Default Temp Pet - Charm Wilderness Animal with your Charm Animal Skill

I was reading that druid post.. when I got this Kooky idea...

For all ya beastmaster, have it where you can still use Charm Animal to charm wilderness beast as Tempoary Pets.

It would work like so... When you first go out to a map with your Charm Animal, you would go out with your Pet. As you explore and come accross any wilderness beast, you could target them, and hit your Charm Animal skill again, and if successful, will charm it as your 2nd (or third, or forth...) pet who will follow you, attack, and take the effect of your beastmaster skills. You could gather your own Pack of Wolfs! HOwever, they will last only as long as that map, and once you exit, they will be gone (leave you with your original pet). If they die, they will not black out your skills, but you can still rez them with your pet rez skill.

It is to add more use to the Charm Animal and other beast mastery skill, as well as make those wilderness beast more useful.

One problem I see is that those wild beast are usually lv 1, which won't be much of help. One way is have dev boost up their lv to be lv 5-10 or so... another is have it where once charmed, they will be at lv that is half of you beast mastery attribute (so if you have 12 in beastmastery, they automatically become lv 6)

Well... thats the idea... I think it is a good and fun one (though somewhere still feel like it could be abused.. yet cann't think of where) What do you think?

Beast mastery had so much potential and yet it still remains one of if not the most untapped skills in the game. its a good idea, but at the same time its basically a MM build for rangers. I dont think that it would be such a good idea to have countless number of pets. It would be too powerful and just too many new skills would be needed or old skills needing to be changed. Good job thinking outside the box but it doesnt look like it will work.

I don't think it would be that much powerful than a MM. It just depend on how many wild beast that dev put in on a map (which could be easily adjusted).. for most part, 3 or 4 might be the max.

However, one problem I see is using the pet for corpse exploid purpose, to create a army of Minon from them, as well as retaining thos temp pet with rez. One change might be have them none-rezable, or that once they are exploided, they can not be rez...

Rangers already have Otoyugh's Cry, one of the least useful skills in existence. I don't blame you for not remembering it. The problem is, of course, animals are restricted to level 5 so Rangers have ample time to explore the hearty/elder/dire evolutions. And any number of level 5s vs one level 20 is nothing more nor less than a massacre.

Perhaps change your idea to temporarily charming one "animal"-type mob (devourers, mantis and suchlike)? That way Charm Animal would have some use, and Beastmasters could get the slight PvE boost they need to be a viable build.
